287. Theme 321 ~The Good Old Days~

Samplers today are often seen as nostalgic, decorative pieces associated with interior decoration, but their historical role has been that they were a method of recording information back in the good old days.  I embroidered this sampler when we first bought our house, although it wasn’t THAT far back in the day!  You can go HERE if you’d like to see a variety of gorgeous American samplers from the 1700 and 1800’s.

  1. Well done and what a beautiful keepsake.

  2. It looks Swedish. Such embroideries which are common in houses here in Sweden too.
    Nice photo from your work.

  3. I didn’t know that’s what samplers were for and I think it was so great of you to embroider one to grace your home. Very nice.

  4. Beautiful work Madelaine, I am sure this brings back many happy memories!
